Morphologically leopards are just as similar to cougars as they are to any other feline though I guess. Sure, maybe it won’t have an edge over certain competitors like a leopard would, but it would take up the exact same niche because of how similar their overall size, behavior is. A cougar put in Africa would take up the same niche as leopards currently have. Leopard behavior is most similar to cougar out of all felines (and probably jaguar as well depending on the population). True but they do take up the same niche a lot of them time.

They’re not the same thing and aren’t even related to each other at all. They have lot of similarities just like other cats too but they’re different. Visually, leopards look more impressive to me. They have a lot of similarities but leopards are the more aggressive and combative species. Even most other websites heavily favours the leopard by a large margin. The leopard is just a much impressive cat by a quite margin build wise and also a much more impressive combatant.
